Joyce works in acrylic and watercolour, including gouache. Her pictures are a contemporary interpretation of the world around her.
A love of nature and wildlife is the main inspiration, with a particular enjoyment in flowers – studying and sketching and then simplifying. Colour is also important and the way colours sit with each other and interact.
Lettering often appears in her pictures – she likes the contrast between the discipline and formal shapes of words to the more organic content of the picture.
