Jayne began to experiment with textile based artwork several years ago, drawn to fabrics with vibrant colours and strong patterns.
Starting with hand embroidered batik work embellished with buttons, beads and other items, Jayne has progressed to experimenting with a wider variety of textile techniques, including wax entrapment, painted fabrics and heat- fused and distressed fabric and stitch.
Often Jayne incorporates personal vintage items and antique fabrics in her work - many have been passed down through generations of her family.
Ideas for her work are based on memory, personal experience, the Peak District landscape and travels around Turkey, Egypt and Thailand.
